SoundLeaf v1.4: Take Your Audiobooks on the Road

The most requested feature is finally here. CarPlay support lands in SoundLeaf v1.4, along with Cloudflare Access support for those running their Audiobookshelf servers behind tunnels, and plenty of quality-of-life improvements.

CarPlay: Your Library, In Your Car

Browse your entire Audiobookshelf library from your car’s display. No fumbling with your phone while driving.

What you get:

  • Continue Listening - Jump right back into your current book
  • Recently Added - New additions to your library, front and center
  • Full Playback Controls - Play, pause, skip forward/back, all from your car’s screen

Clean interface, large cover art, clear titles. The way CarPlay should be.

Cloudflare Access Support

Running Audiobookshelf behind Cloudflare Zero Trust? SoundLeaf now handles that.

Add your CF-Access-Client-Id and CF-Access-Client-Secret headers in the app, and SoundLeaf will include them with every request. No more “Access Denied” errors when trying to connect to your tunneled server.

Find the Headers option on the login screen or in Settings > Library. Add your service token credentials, enable them, and you’re connected.

Bookmarks

Mark important moments in your audiobooks. Add notes, jump back to them later. Simple.

  • Tap the bookmark icon in the player to add one
  • Add optional notes to remember why you bookmarked
  • Sort by time or creation date
  • Auto-bookmarks for chapters can be hidden if you prefer a cleaner list

Catppuccin Themes

Four new theme options for those who like their UI with a specific aesthetic. Latte, Frappe, Macchiato, and Mocha variants are all available in Settings > Appearance.

Player Polish

The player got smoother:

  • Chapter skip buttons - Jump between chapters with dedicated buttons in the player
  • Chapters list - Quick access to all chapters from the player controls
  • End of chapter sleep timer - Set the sleep timer to pause at the end of the current chapter
  • Progress bar scrubbing - No more lag or jumpback when seeking. Optimistic UI updates make it feel instant.
  • Chapter transitions - Fixed an issue where auto-play would fail at track boundaries
  • Preset speed buttons - Quick access to common playback speeds
  • Haptic feedback - Subtle vibrations when you interact with controls
  • Lock screen chapters - See chapter progress right from the lock screen

Modern Audiobookshelf Support

For those running Audiobookshelf v2.26.0 or newer, SoundLeaf now supports the new JWT authentication system. Access tokens, refresh tokens, automatic renewal. The app detects which auth system your server uses and handles it automatically.

If you’re on an older server version, the legacy authentication continues to work as before.
