Audiobookshelf listening stats and goals on iPhone

Track Audiobookshelf listening time, streaks and your year in books in SoundLeaf. Set a daily or weekly listening goal and a yearly goal for books finished.

Updated

SoundLeaf shows how much you’ve listened today and this week, your streak, and how close you are to a goal, right on Home. It also has a full Stats screen with your listening calendar and your year in books. Goals are optional.

How do I change the stats style on Home?

There are five styles:

  • Library stats - your library counts and totals: size, duration, authors and items
  • Numbers - today, this week, your streak and your goal in a compact row. This is the default.
  • Activity - the same numbers with a row of recent listening days. Tap the row to open your listening calendar.
  • Compact ring - a small goal ring beside your listening stats
  • Focus ring - a larger goal ring that says how much is left to your goal

Each library keeps its own style, so a podcast library can use a compact row while your books get the big ring. In a podcast library the numbers switch to this year, finished episodes and your listening streak and goal.

To change it:

  • Press and hold the stats row on Home and choose Change style, or
  • Go to Settings > Appearance, and under Home use Stats Style to pick a library, then a style

The style is saved for that library on this device.

How do I set a listening goal?

Goals are off until you turn one on. Press and hold the stats row on Home and choose Set Listening Goals, or go to Settings > Appearance > Listening Stats and tap Listening Goals.

  • Daily or weekly - Off, Daily or Weekly
  • Minutes - your target, in steps of 5 minutes
  • Yearly book goal - turn it on and set how many Books to finish this year. Use last year’s target appears if you set a target last year.

A daily goal starts fresh each day. A weekly goal runs Monday to Sunday. The yearly book goal runs from January 1 to December 31.

Goals are saved on this device.

What counts toward my goal?

  • Books and podcasts together, from all your accounts. Listening in other apps on the same Audiobookshelf account counts too.
  • Any listening day keeps your streak, even a day you missed the goal. Listening on other devices counts once it syncs; see how progress syncs.
  • Books finished count toward the yearly goal in the accounts you tick on the goals screen, including books finished before you set the goal. Podcast episodes don’t count as books.

Does offline listening count toward my stats?

The figures come from the listening your Audiobookshelf server has recorded. Listening counts once it reaches the server, so listening done offline shows up after it syncs. See how progress syncs.

Days follow the dates your server records, and weeks start on Monday.

Where are all my stats?

Tap today’s or this week’s listening on Home to see it against your goal, with links to Listening Goals and All Stats. Tap your streak or the Activity row for the listening calendar.

All Stats (also under Settings > Appearance > Listening Stats) opens the Stats screen:

  • Your all-time total and your goals
  • Every day, a strip of your listening days this year that opens the full calendar
  • Your 2026 (this year), your year in books: the books, the authors and narrators you heard most, and the longest book you finished
  • Last 30 days, Weekly rhythm and Time of day
  • Books and podcasts, Top listens and Recent activity

Stats on your Home Screen

The Listening, Goal and Your Listening widgets put these numbers on your Home Screen. Your Listening shows this month or this year. See widgets and Siri.

Troubleshooting

Why is today’s listening too low?

Listening done offline or on another device counts once it reaches your server. Open SoundLeaf with a connection and give it a minute.

The ring shows a target icon instead of progress

No goal is set. Press and hold the stats row and choose Set Listening Goals.

”Could not refresh from the server. Showing saved stats where available.”

SoundLeaf couldn’t refresh your stats, so it shows the figures it saved until a refresh works.
